Opal Compared Will I have to pay more?

The Independent Pricing & Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has released a draft report into the pricing of public transport fares. The report recommends significant changes to Opal fares after July 2016.

Use this tool to determine what impact the proposed changes will have on your hip pocket.

This fare calculator is based on the draft proposal released by IPART in December 2015. You can find an updated calculator here.

How do I use this tool?

  1. Create a journey for every public transport journey you take weekly.
(For example: a separate journey from home to work and from work to home)
  2. Fill in the start and destination, the tap-on time and the days in which you usually undertake this journey.
  3. From the provided route options, choose your preferred route.
  4. Rince and repeat for each journey. Compare the final weekly fare on the right.
